19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's maiden title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my child her name, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive play style and recurring outbursts on court had caused commentators to question if his skill to play at the highest level was over.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, backed up by an better service.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet saved 4 early opportunities in a close final set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
