Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police state initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to its source; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.
City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the community for tips.
A senior official stated the incident left him speechless and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This act affects the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
